ICIN’s Trustee at Reception given by Prince Charles on 17th December 2013

Prince Charles told a reception of Middle East Christians including ICIN’s own trustee, Dr Suha Rassam, at Clarence House of his work to promote understanding between Christianity and Islam and said bridges between Christians and Muslims were being deliberately destroyed by people with a vested interest and that he was “deeply troubled” by the plight of Christians in the region.

He said this affected Arab Christians in countries such as Syria, Iraq, Palestine and Egypt, as well as those from other Arab countries. "Christianity was literally born in the Middle East and we must not forget our Middle Eastern brothers and sisters in Christ," he added. Prince Charles said Christians now accounted for 4% of the population in the Middle East and North Africa – the lowest concentration in the world.

At the Reception, Dr Rassam gave His Highness a resume of the plight of Iraqi Christians and the work of ICIN to help those in need inside Iraq and the neighbouring countries.
